Why Barrier Care Matters

The outermost layer of the skin (stratum corneum) acts like a “brick-and-mortar” wall. Skin cells (bricks) held together by a lipid-rich            matrix (mortar). When lipids are depleted, the barrier becomes leaky, increasing trans epidermal water loss (TEWL) and discomfort.
